Relevance of Infrastructure to DevOps
Discussion on emerging trends of application development. It is sub-optimal that application and infrastructure are heading 2 independent paths. There are several synergies that can be leveraged if these two efforts are aligned. Other than speed of deployment, important to consider day 2 operation. With the right integration in place, application owners will not experience the typical infrastructure delay; yet able to benefit from of modern SDN infrastructure, and other technologies that can help customers in adopting containers technology.

In a hybrid cloud environment, portion of application will be on-prem, off-prem. With these application sprawling across different type of public/private clouds, applications are spin off in different forms (virtual machine, microservices, physical servers, etc ). It is imperative to consider consistent security policies, solid day 2 operation to resolve unforeseen problems quickly, and portability of these applications across clouds.

The infrastructure need to evolve to go beyond providing connectivity. In today’s environment, security need to be integrated into the infrastructure; Network Analytics becoming an important tool to combat new threats.

Build a Hybrid Cloud and Paint it Red
Cloud is the new norm. Enterprise customers need to use private and public cloud solutions to become more agile and competitive. However, it is still challenging to build hybrid cloud architectures for the majority of customers. Core applications are running on legacy systems and architectures. The cloud is a solution to modernizing your applications and infrastructure. CIOs now have a cloud strategy, many with a cloud first policy. However, IT organizations have old tools and are not fully virtualized. IT does not have data, open, hybrid, or other, policies for the cloud. IT doesn’t have the talent or experience to consume open source: the engine for innovation. Developers have fully deployed applications to production in a public cloud, and public cloud spending is impacting infrastructure budgets.

This session will talk about the business factors, the technology challenges, solutions, and the implementation experience moving to cloud.

How to Fund Your IT Innovation
Red Hat’s Infrastructure Migration Solution can help organizations accelerate their digital transformation journey without increasing their costs, allowing them to invest in transformative technologies such as containers, automation, and multi-cloud management by lowering the cost of their existing infrastructure investments.

The solution achieves this by analyzing the cost of the existing infrastructure and providing an alternative virtualization platform for both new growth and existing workloads. New workloads can be delivered on the alternative platform in an automated fashion with self-service ensuring IT can quickly recreate the workloads on future platforms, such as public clouds without a heavy burden. Existing workloads are then analyzed and migrated using a proven methodology to ensure all business requirements are satisfied for the workload, such as migrating within proper change control windows and having approvals from needed stakeholders.

Finally, the savings realized from the infrastructure migration, often 40-50% over the existing long-term commitment are used to accelerate adoption of technologies around multi-cloud management, automation, and containers.
